An Arizona girl who disappeared at age 13 under what authorities once called “suspicious circumstances” has been found alive more than three decades later – closing a decades-old cold case while raising new questions about where she was and what really happened.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that Christina “Tina” Marie Plante, who disappeared in Star Valley, Arizona, in 1994, has been found and identified 32 years later. Authorities say he is safe and his case has been officially resolved.
But beyond that, the investigators said very little.
According to a missing person’s report, Plante was last seen around 12:30 pm on May 15, 1994, leaving her home on Moonlight Drive in Star Valley on foot. He told the others that he was heading to the nearby stable where his horse was kept, but he never arrived.

At the time, authorities filed his case as “missing/at risk” under suspicious circumstances, indicating concern that he may be in danger or a victim of foul play.
He is described as having blue eyes and dark brown hair and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, colored shorts and black tennis shoes.

Despite an extensive search involving law enforcement, volunteers and county resources, no viable leads have emerged.
For years, Plante’s case remained open, periodically reviewed by investigators and preserved in the national missing persons database.

Although the result is rare and surprising, officials are withholding almost all details about what happened during the missing decades. The sheriff’s office has not said where Plante has been since 1994, whether his disappearance involved a crime, or how investigators finally found him.
“Out of respect for Christina’s privacy and health, no further details will be released at this time,” the agency said.
