The family of a missing Oakland business owner is coordinating search efforts across the East Bay, asking residents to review security footage as volunteers and law enforcement expand the hunt.
About 60 people from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office joined the search, which began around 8 a.m., with emergency crews from Contra Costa and Marin counties also assisting, as well as volunteers, according to KTVU.
Amy Hillyard, 52, disappeared on March 25 around 2 a.m. after she was seen walking on Radnor Road in the Oakland neighborhood of Cleveland Heights, according to authorities. Almost a week later, his whereabouts are unknown.
“The search to bring Amy home continues, and we remain hopeful,” family friend Sarah Wachs told Fox News Digital. “We had hundreds of people come together to look for Amy.”

Oakland police said Monday that Hillyard’s family requested another search, SFGate reported.
Authorities have listed Hillyard as a missing person at risk due to a medical condition. Wachs told Fox News Digital that she is dealing with a health issue that has left her confused and in need of help, but declined to share details to protect her privacy.
According to Wachs, search efforts now include Oakland police, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and neighboring search and rescue teams. Volunteers have been putting together hiking trails, canvassing neighborhoods and scouting local businesses in hopes of finding any trace of Hillyard.
The family is now urging residents, especially in Cleveland Heights, Lake Merritt, the Lakeshore District and Crocker Highlands, to monitor home surveillance systems for possible sightings since the afternoon she disappeared.
Hillyard is described as 5-foot-4, about 120 pounds, with blonde hair. The police recently clarified that he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers with a black stripe, revising the previous description of different clothes.
Authorities described her as a missing person at risk due to a medical condition and issued an endangered species alert Sunday evening, sending alerts to cell phones in the East Bay days after she disappeared. A neighbor told KTVU that Hillyard left without his cell phone and has not been heard from since.

As concern grows, missing person flyers have spread throughout Oakland and San Francisco, appearing around Jack London Square, along Grand Avenue and at the Powell Street BART station, SFGate reports. The posters were also displayed at Farley’s East Coffee Shop, the East Bay coffee shop in Hillyard that she co-owns with her husband.
Despite the increased search, her husband said the family is still looking for answers.
“Missing since 2pm Wednesday. That’s all we know,” Chris Hillyard said in a message to SFGate.

Hillyard currently serves as board president of the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir. In a statement sent by KTVU, the organization said that his disappearance has shaken the community.

Farley’s Coffee itself is a deeply rooted family business with a long history in the Bay Area. Founded in 1989 by Roger Hillyard in the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, the restaurant was named after his grandfather, Jack Farley, who disappeared in the 1920s.
The business was later passed on to Roger’s son, Chris, and Amy, who helped grow it in the East Bay and local airports. The company describes itself as a community center built on connection, culture and shared space—values that many say Hillyard embodies.
