Michael Rapaport says he is running for mayor of NYC against Mamdani in 2029

Michael Rapaport is doubling down on his plans to run for mayor of New York City.
On Tuesday, the 60-year-old actor and comedian said he plans to run against him Mayor Zohran Mamdaniknown for his social democratic policies, with the idea of ”New York City street fighting” in 2029.
“I never thought I’d even consider running for mayor of New York City and I’m going to do it with good intentions and I’m not going to do it the way any other political person has,” Rapaport told Chris Cuomo during an appearance on News Nation. “The only way to beat this guy is to win and take a New York City street fight attitude.”

“There’s no way to get him out. There’s no way to deceive him. I think he’s the biggest bully in the history of politics…and that’s saying a lot,” he continued. “But New York City needs to do something, we need to plan right now because 2029 is approaching and yes, I am running for mayor of New York City and I will stop until I feel that there is someone more qualified to defeat Zohran moron.”
“My bark is louder than my bite,” he added. “There’s no way to fissesse this boy, without smiling this boy. It should be a dogfight. It was bad and that’s what I’m going to do in my campaign.”
The comedian, who has been outspoken about the issue of a democratic mayor, first announced his plans to run for mayor in January.

“My name is Michael Rapaport, aka Mayor Rapaport. Mr. Mayor Rapaport,” he said in an episode of his “I Am Rapaport” podcast.

“Let me tell you something, boys, girls, women, children of all ages. 2025 was crazy, and I don’t see it getting any cooler or cooler in 2026, the way things started,” he continued. “That’s why I ran for mayor.”

In addition to making the announcement on his podcast, Rapaport also took Instagram sharing the news, emphasizing in the video that he was “born and raised in New York City.”
“Born. Raised. NYC. Nothing free. No bulls—. No fake laughs,” she wrote in the caption. “I will own my mistakes, apologize when I mess up, and fight to make this city safe, affordable, and successful. You got Zoron the Moron now…Mayor Rapaport is coming. How do you like those apples? 🍎🗽.”

Last week, Rapaport called on the NY governor to resign after anti-Israel protests got out of hand in front of a synagogue.

“@GovKathyHochul, you had 3 years to implement the mask mandate & see if this stops the bulls—, you did nothing. RESIGN IN SHAME,” he concluded.
Representatives for Rapaport and Mamdani did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
