Councilwoman Stefany Shaheen’s campaign worker poked fun at the American Rising tracker camera when she asked her if she supported Graham Platner’s US Senate campaign. Shaheen did not answer.

Platner, the Democratic nominee for an open Maine Senate seat, has faced a series of controversies over the past year. Reports from last month revealed that he was sending sex messages to up to ten women while he was married. The scandal follows earlier scrutiny of inflammatory Reddit posts and a painting resembling the Nazi-era Totenkopf symbol, which Platner said he did not realize was related to the SS when he found it.

Shaheen is running for New Hampshire’s First District, a seat left open by Rep. Chris Pappas to replace his retired mother. Although neither Shaheen nor his mother, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, DN.H., who has been a public supporter of Platner, Republicans took part in Shaheen’s refusal to answer questions about her.

“Nepo’s daughter Stefany Shaheen had the opportunity to criticize Graham Platner’s bad behavior. Instead, she chose to remain silent on the radio when her staff member attacked someone who asked about a donut,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole told Fox News Digital. “Granite Staters deserve a representative who isn’t bogged down with simple questions and whose party can’t arm themselves with a baked good.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Stephanie Shaheen’s campaign for comment.

Despite Platner’s mounting controversy, several prominent Democrats have continued to stand by him. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y.; Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vt.; and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., all continued to support Platner’s campaign, saying control of the Senate remained the party’s top priority as of November.

“The issue right now is not Graham Platner’s marriage. The issue right now is how we fix the problems facing working families in this country,” said Sanders about the sex scandal that plagued Platner’s campaign.

Sanders endorsed Platner just two weeks after launching his campaign. Throughout the campaign, Platner has responded to Sanders’ calls to deal with billionaires but stopped short of calling himself a Democratic Socialist.

Schumer endorsed Platner hours after Maine Democratic Gov. Janet Mills suspended her campaign and dropped out of the race in April.

Democratic leaders continued to support Platner while stressing the importance of taking back the Senate. Booker said “there’s a lot of work to be done with the Democrats in control of the Senate,” and Schumer has repeatedly framed the race in terms of defeating Susan Collins and winning the field again.
