Stephen A. Smith noted that President Donald Trump was “better” than former President Joe Biden during their ongoing confrontation on Sunday.

Smith was asked about his comments and Trump’s recent decision to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden in honor of the New York Knicks last week.

Despite the differences between the two, Smith insisted that Trump was “better” than Biden in terms of sharpness, although he previously said that Trump fell asleep during the Knicks game.

“Well, I don’t know anyone who can put together the word ‘sharp’ [Trump] because he doesn’t seem very sharp in some of the decisions he makes sometimes, to be honest with you,” Smith said. “But I’m not here to insult or insult the President of the United States in that regard. He’s certainly improved on what we’ve seen from Joe Biden in terms of his awareness and what he has. I certainly wouldn’t blame him for that. But I will not insult the president.”

Although he went on to say that Trump “took a nap” during the game, the ESPN host dismissed the concern, pointing out that the president “has a lot on his plate.” However, Smith backtracked on Trump’s previous comments calling him “a person with a low IQ.”

“If he wants to sit there and question my IQ and talk to me about people who can smoke me in a conversation, why don’t you do it yourself? Why are you disrespecting anyone else? Because I’d be more than happy to sit across from the president and argue with some of the decisions he’s made. And I’m not interested in running or anything like that,” said Smith.

When contacted for comment by Fox News Digital, the White House referred to Trump’s post on Truth Community Wednesday criticizing Smith.

“Stephen A. Smith is an arrogant fool, a person with a low IQ. In other words, he is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and he is not at all fit to think about running for high political office, or even low political office, for that matter! He would be destroyed in a debate about the most incompetent politicians. Now Joe Biden’s now looks like the ‘fabled by loud’s performance would look very good. which is not much! Within a few weeks, they will laugh at him coming out of politics!!!” Trump wrote.

The feud between Smith and Trump began after Smith criticized Trump’s decision to attend Game 3, calling it “selfish” and “narcissistic.” After the Knicks lost to the San Antonio Spurs 115-111, Smith blamed Trump for the loss, saying his presence sapped the team’s momentum.

In response to Smith’s comments, Trump appeared to poke fun at Smith’s presidential ambitions in comments on Fox News Digital.

“I think he’s a good man, but you need some skills to run for president,” Trump said. “You need a high IQ. I’m not sure Stephen has that. I don’t think he does, actually.”

On Saturday, Smith appeared ready to bury the hatchet after the Knicks won the NBA championship for the first time in 53 years.

“The Knicks just won a championship. I don’t give a— about politics or anything like that. I couldn’t care less. You can ask me tomorrow, you can ask me Tuesday. But right now, the New York Knicks just ended a 53-year drought. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this moment. And I’m not going to let anything get in the way of that,” Smith told Dick/Fox News.
