Streamer Hasan Piker says the UK has denied him entry for criticizing Israel

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!

It hasn’t been a good few days for Marxist political activist Hasan Piker.

First, as Fox News Digital exclusively reported last week, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sent Piker an executive order seeking financial, transportation and communications records related to his March trip to Cuba as part of an investigation into whether he violated US sanctions against doing business with the island nation’s communist regime.

Then last night, during protests outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Newark, NJ, thugs confronted Piker, calling him a “fraud,” a “fake-a– grifter” and a “dog abuser,” telling him to, “Get back to the desk.” (Piker has denied allegations of training his dog, Kaya, with a shock collar.)

Now, Piker has told his loyal fans on the Twitch platform that the British authorities have refused an Electronic Travel Authorization, or ETA, preventing him from going to the United Kingdom for a series of scheduled appearances, including events at SXSW London and the Oxford Union. Authorized US travelers to the UK can enter the country with a simple Electronic Travel Authorization, which is easier to obtain than a valid visa.

“I’m banned from the UK,” Piker told viewers. “I’ve been to the UK many times, and all the things they’re complaining about now are things I’ve said before.”

He continued, “It’s ridiculous.”

Although Fox News Digital did not confirm Piker’s claim, such a move by the UK would be important because it would mark a red line that could be drawn by the Western government regarding the importation of extremist ideas and ideological movements that officials believe could contribute to social unrest, extremism or political violence.

In the end, Piker said he was denied entry on the grounds that he did not want to believe in Jews, which he denied, then he went up and down the Jewish organizations that he said campaigned for his visit, saying that they have great influence on the British policy.

“Israeli rights groups have a lot of influence over what even the United Kingdom says and does,” Piker said. “If you are an anti-Zionist, your journey will be limited.”

Piker accused the UK government of bowing to pressure from pro-Israel groups and described the decision as evidence of growing political discord across Western democracies.

The comments came weeks after British Jewish organizations publicly called on the government to ban Piker from entering the country, citing comments they described as illegal and supportive of extremist groups. Piker said he believed the US deserved the 9/11 attacks as a “setback” for its foreign policy decisions. The Jewish Leadership Council and the Community Security Trust argued that Piker’s presence in Britain would not be “socially beneficial,” pointing to his comments about Hamas, Hezbollah, Zionism and Orthodox Jews.

Labor MP David Taylor also called on the Home Office to revoke Piker’s visa ahead of a planned appearance at SXSW London, saying his speech had fueled the concerns of the British Jewish community.

Commenting on his decision about the UK decision with deep groans, cursing and anger at the suggestions of his supporters, Piker has repeatedly rejected accusations that he is an atheist, saying that criticism of Israel is conflated with hatred of Jews. He said this decision shows a wider trend in which governments suppress anti-Israel voices.

“This is straight-up fascism,” Piker said. “Criticizing Israel while fighting antisemitism is not enough reason to bar someone from entering the country.”

The broadcaster said he planned a week-long tour that included an appearance with former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, a live podcast recording and an event at the Oxford Union.

Varoufakis is the founder of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group, Progressive International, which Piker credits for taking him to Cuba on a March aid trip that may have violated US laws. A Fox News Digital investigation reported that Progressive International and its founder David Adler were said to be a critical part of the Cuban Communist Party’s foreign influence operation. Progressive International and Adler did not respond to a request for comment.

The UK government did not respond to a request for comment. However, in recent weeks, Interior Secretary Shabana Mahmood, a critic of Israel’s policies, recently revoked the travel authorization of Piker’s uncle, Cenk Uygur, the founder of “The Young Turks,” after concluding that his presence would not “benefit society.”

During the live broadcast, Piker warned that the UK’s alleged decision could set a precedent for other Western countries, including Australia and Canada, which may restrict his future travel.

HASAN PIKER OBSERVES PRO-CCP TYCOON SINGHAM AS A ‘POLITICAL FINANCIAL’ DESPITE NONPROFIT VENEER

“I really didn’t think this would happen,” he said. “We’re entering a very different timeline.”

Piker said he and his team were exploring whether he could apply for a regular visa despite the rejection of the Electronic Travel Authorization, although he admitted it was a long time coming.

Piker’s case joins a broader investigation into the influence of transnational activist networks operating in the United States. Earlier this week, Piker said the Treasury Department’s investigation into his trip to Cuba could eventually focus on Neville Roy Singham, an American Marxist businessman living in Shanghai who funded a network of nonprofits and activist groups targeted by lawmakers and administration officials.

Among Sinham’s funded organizations are CodePink, which also received a Treasury Department administrative subpoena related to its participation in the March trip to Cuba, as well as groups such as the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition. All three organizations clearly identify with a socialist or communist political culture and have been prominent organizers of anti-Israel protests across the United States since Oct. 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas against Israel.

Critics say some of those protests have created a hostile environment for Jews in the UK, the US, and elsewhere, including the use of slogans such as “From the river to the sea,” meaning the end of Israel.

Trump administration officials are investigating groups linked to Singham as an international network that promotes anti-American, pro-Chinese Communist Party and anti-Western agendas while exploiting political and social divisions in the US.

Lawmakers, Treasury officials and national security analysts have continued to examine whether such networks are helping to increase polarization, social discord, and hostility to democratic institutions. Meanwhile, last night at the ICE protest, Piker defended the groups as being led by “amazing” people.

The debate has been particularly heated in Europe, where governments have been locked in a battle between far-left activists and Islamist groups that have merged with anti-Israel and anti-Semitism activists. Critics say some of these alliances have encouraged anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence, leading to an increase in antisemitism in the UK, as in the US.

Piker, on the other hand, ended his podcast defiantly, angry and seemingly depressed at the moment, repeating, “Bro, they banned me from the UK,” then closing the podcast, saying, “I’m done for the day.”
