Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office is investigating allegations of sexual harassment against embattled Rep. Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat who has suspended his campaign for Gov. Gavin Newsom after appearing in public last week.
Separately, the House Ethics Committee announced Monday its investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.
A former employee accused him of sexually assaulting her while drunk twice, including once in New York City in 2024, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle published Friday.

The woman, who has not been named, told the newspaper she was hired at the age of 21 to work at the Swalwell district office in 2019 and said her married boss began following her weeks later. She reportedly said he sent her nude photos on Snapchat and asked her for oral sex in the parking lot while he was riding home from a party. In one incident, he said he woke up naked in Swalwell’s bed after passing out on alcohol.
The New York investigation stems from separate allegations in this article, where he is no longer an employee of Swalwell’s office. They allegedly met for drinks after a gala in Manhattan around 11:30pm on April 25, 2024.

“We urge survivors and anyone with information about these allegations to contact the Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” a spokesperson for the DA’s office told Fox News over the weekend. “Our specially trained prosecutors, investigators, and counselors are well equipped to assist you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered way.”
Swalwell denied the allegations and apologized to his wife in a video posted online. He said he was planning to fight the allegations but dropped out of the California governor’s race anyway.
“I will fight against the serious, false allegations that have been made,” he wrote on X Sunday. “But that’s my fight, not a campaign.”
