The Red Sox pitcher is shaken, incredibly angry, facing a quick reality check by the organization

In a season filled with complete misery, the Boston Red Sox finally did something right following another embarrassing home loss on Thursday.
The organization demoted starter Bryan Bello after another horrible outing, complete with post-game booing by the media.
You can be bad at your job. You can be a comedian. But – and this is important – you can’t be bad at your job AND be a comedian.
We’ll get to the postgame interactions here in a minute, but first, a quick context…

Bello, so far, has been awful in Boston to begin with pitcher this season. Things got so bad, interim manager Chad Kelly actually started using him as a “bulk” pitcher as of late, meaning the team would use the opener for the first inning or two, then bring Bello in for the rest of the game.
That really worked.
In games where Bello might not pitch the first inning or two, he’s been very good. In games where he had to start, he was literally unstoppable. I’m right. He could NOT give up many runs in the first inning.
Strange things.
Anyway, the Sox made Bello start again on Thursday against Baltimore, he gave up five runs (!!!) in the first inning, immediately yelled at the media about it after the game, and was sent to Worcester.
What a day!
Bryan Bello is the worst first baseman in all of MLB
Amazing. What a sad season.
Look, I was ready to jump in today and criticize the Red Sox for starting Bello again. I couldn’t believe that Kelly had the gall to dump this kid on Thursday when he has been playing so well in the role of “the bulk”.
And I mean GOOD:
- In seven games as a regular starter: 9.68 ERA, 10 HR, 18 BB, .370 batting average against.
- In four games as a a lot boy: 0.71 ERA, 0 HR, 3 BB, .215 batting average against.
I mean, just day and night. Inexplicable.

So, yes, I was willing to rip the Red Sox today to start it again against the Orioles … and then Bello had the guts to say it all. that after a shake-up, and I completely changed my tune.
Who do you think this guy is? The team is in the middle of an embarrassing season, have you been one of the worst starters in baseball, and you have the nerve to yell at the media because they ask about your role?
After that it comes out?! What world am I living in here?
I’ve got a newsflash for everyone who didn’t follow the Red Sox this year (lucky you!): Bryan Bello doesn’t deserve this title. The Red Sox are pretty bad all over the place, but starting pitching really isn’t one of them.
It’s probably the only place they’re good at. I would argue that they have again many beginners.
If I were, I wouldn’t just leave Bello in Worcester for the rest of the season, I’d try to get him out of Boston for good before next month’s trade deadline. They don’t need him.

Honestly, nobody needs a starting pitcher with an ERA hovering in the double digits. There is no. And, let me stress this…
Brian Bello has the WORST ERA of any qualified starter in Major League Baseball. He is currently 2-6 with a 6.34 ERA. Teams are hitting .310 against him, which is worst in the league.

And you’re going to have the guts to tell us to “stop talking about bullpen-starter crap because if I play well as a starter no one talks about it”?
Buddy … you haven’t played well all season. June! You STINK when you have to do your job and pitch the first inning.
