Tiffany Henyard faces $10,000 Illinois hiring decision as she runs in Georgia

Former Dolton, Illinois “super mayor” Tiffany Henyard and her boyfriend are accused of owing thousands in unpaid rent while running for office in Georgia.

In March, WGN Investigates reported that Henyard was ordered to return to Illinois after former landlord Genetta Hull accused the controversial mayor of failing to pay rent during the final months of Henyard’s tenure in Illinois. When Henyard failed to appear in court, Hull was fined $10,000.

On Monday, however, Henyard’s attorney successfully argued for a new judge and a hearing was scheduled for June 1.

“I was emotionally upset,” Hull told WGN Investigates. “I’m tired.”

In a Facebook video, Henyard celebrated the verdict as “a good day in court” and criticized what he called “fake news” for glamorizing his death.

“You know how the fake news went on the news and wrote that I had a $10,000 judgment against me?” Henyard said in the video. “Guess what? Here’s what they didn’t tell you. It got out! I bet they won’t report that. Fake news.”

He stated in the video that a “family emergency” prevented him from going to court in Illinois, adding that he still lives in Georgia.

“At the end of the day, all these lies and all these fake news and all this propaganda and all this stuff that you keep hearing, I keep telling you to stop believing the hype,” Henyard said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Henyard for comment.

After losing his bid for re-election as mayor of Dolton, Henyard has come to an end launch a campaign running in District 5 of South Fulton County for the Fulton County Commission as a Republican.

Henyard argued during the meeting that he has been a legal resident of Fulton County since May 1, 2025. However, Board Commissioner Julie Adams pointed out that Henyard served as mayor of Dolton until May 4, 2025, when he officially left office.

The board of elections later voted 3-1 to approve Henyard’s residency requirement to run for the Fulton County Commission.

Henyard was called “the worst mayor in America” ​​afterward allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement of the village’s finances. A financial investigation reportedly revealed that Dolton’s bank account had dropped from an initial balance of $5.6 million to a $3.6 million deficit.
