Woods was arrested and charged with DUI with destruction of property and refusing to submit to a legal test after he was involved in a two-car crash on March 27 near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida. Authorities said Woods appeared disoriented and found hydrocodone pills on him at the scene, even though he scored “triple-zeroes” on a breathalyzer test.

The PGA Tour has officially approved a series of recommendations from the Future of Competition Committee that will bring significant changes to the structure of the circuit from 2028.

The new model will have two concurrent series – the Championship Series and the Challenger Series – which will feature the promotion and relegation of players. The Championship Series will feature approximately 23-24 events with fields of approximately 120 players from February through August. The Tour has announced that 10 of the 15 events of the anticipated 2028 PGA Tour Championship Series have been booked.
The Challenger Series will feature large fields of up to 144 players, and tournaments will be played at the same time as championship series events. Championship Series players will not be eligible to come down and compete in Challenger Series events.

The tour revealed that the top 90 finishers, at least, (out of nearly 130 players) will be exempted entirely for the following season. Players who fail to maintain membership may be at risk of being demoted to the Challenger Series. 20 junior players from the PGA TOUR Challenger Series will be promoted to the Championship Series the following season.

The Tour’s Fall Series will shift to a “last chance” series of four to six events, where a limited number of spots in next season’s Championship Series will be available as players seek to improve – or maintain – their status.
The Tour’s post-season will also receive a major overhaul starting in 2028, with the introduction of the tournament and the Tour Championship revolving around “premier courses,” many of which the Tour has never hosted.
