Todd Blanche confirmed the arrest of the protester who threatened the family of the ICE officer

Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche on Friday said the man who threatened to kill a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer and his family during a protest in New Jersey on Thursday night.

The arrest happened a few hours after Blanche promised the protester, who was recorded on video, would be found and arrested.

“That’s a collective crime,” Blanche said on Fox News’ “The Will Cain Show” on Thursday. “Not only is he threatening an ICE officer – but think how disgusting this person is for threatening his wife and children with death.

In the video, a protester can be heard taunting a police officer: “I’m going to kill your whole f—ing family. Your whole family is dead. Your kids and your wife are all dead. I have your face mother—er! They’re all dead!”

Blanche said the officer was doing his job and “standing there.”

On Friday evening, Blanche wrote to X: Told you. The @FBI just arrested a man who threatened to kill ICE officers and their families. FAFO.”

He has not been identified.

The incident happened Thursday evening outside Newark’s Delaney Hall campus where protesters were accused of biting, kicking and punching.

Agents responded by deploying pepper spray and retaliating against the instigators as the protest continued into the sixth night.

Nine protesters were arrested during the clashes on Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News Digital.

About 100 protesters stormed the area around the detention center, chanting “F— ICE” and brandishing black umbrellas, gas masks and other gear to protect themselves from pepper spray and various anti-violence tactics.

On Wednesday evening, DHS reported that approximately 100 anti-ICE protesters gathered at the Delaney Hall ICE facility. While protesters attacked and threw stones at law enforcement officers, DHS said “local police officers refused to assist our officers.” Six protesters were arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly assaulting the law enforcement officers.

“We’ve called the local police, we’ve called the state police many times. Listen, I know law enforcement would like to respond, but because of Governor Sherrill’s behavior as a governor, he’s not allowing state officials and federal officials to respond,” Mullin said during an appearance Thursday morning on Fox & Friends.

Prisoner conditions protests began on Friday, May 22, after prisoners wrote an open letter saying they were denied access to health care, adequate food and were detained without due process.

DHS has denied those claims.
