Trump advisers criticize Pompeo, Cruz for undermining Iran deal talks

While President Donald Trump was burning the midnight oil for a last-minute peace and denuclearization deal with Iran, his inner circle at the White House was criticizing right-wing critics for working to “undermine” peace efforts or “illegally” abuse the remaining security clearance.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Fox News contributor, and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, received X criticism from other top advisers in Trump’s inner circle, including White House communications director Steven Cheung, deputy assistant for counterterrorism Sebastian Gorka and foreign policy adviser Alex Bruesewitz.
“Mike Pompeo doesn’t know what the f— he’s talking about,” Cheung wrote in X’s infamous post Saturday night. “He should shut his stupid mouth and leave the real work to the experts. He’s never been taught what’s going on, how will he know.”
Pompeo’s tweet that sparked outrage suggested Trump’s imminent deal would end up being an Obama-era capitulation to Iran’s continued nuclear ambitions.
MORNING GLORY: PRESIDENT TRUMP SHOULD SKIP MUNICH SECOND AND STRENGTHEN IRAN AGAIN

“The deal struck with Iran appears to be straight out of the Wendy Sherman-Robert Malley-Ben Rhodes playbook: Pay the IRGC to build a WMD program and terrorize the world,” Pompeo wrote in X. “Not far from America First.”
“It’s straightforward: Open the damned strait. Deny Iran access to money. Take away enough Iranian power so it can’t threaten our allies in the region.
“It’s too late. Let’s go.”

Gorka, while not confirming anything about Pompeo’s position, suggested that the former secretary of state may have “illegally” abused his top security clearance.
“You have no idea what is being discussed in private,” Gorka wrote to X. “If you do, you will be in possession of information that has been illegally provided and that you are not authorized to have or share.”
“So is Pompeo a liar or a criminal?” Gorka asked.

Cruz also received blowback for a post that suggested Trump’s peace efforts would be thwarted by releasing “billions of dollars” to the Iranian government.
“I’m very concerned about what we’re hearing about the Iran ‘deal’, which is being pushed in other words by the administration,” Cruz wrote Saturday on X. “President Trump’s decision to strike Iran was the most important decision of his second term. He was right to do so, and we achieved extraordinary military results – including the destruction of all their missiles and their drones and the sinking of their entire navy.
“If the result of all that is the Iranian regime – still run by Islamists chanting “death to America” - now receiving billions of dollars, able to enrich uranium and build nuclear weapons, and effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that result will be a terrible mistake.
MORNING GLORY: TRUMP SHOULD SEEK CLEAR VICTORY OVER IRAN AND OVERCOME APPEARING LOYALTY
“The details are still coming out — and I’m praying that the initial reports are wrong — but the fact that Biden’s Rob Malley is recommending a deal is not encouraging.
“President Trump believes in peace with strength, and his strong leadership has already made America more secure. He must continue to hold the line, protect America and strengthen the red lines he has drawn over and over again.”
That drew criticism from one of Trump’s top foreign policy advisers, Bruesewitz.
ISRAEL-IRAN WAR DIVIDED DEMOCRATS, BUT TRUMP’S DIPLOMACY ALSO DIVIDED REPUBLICANS.
“Good, Ted,” Bruesewitz wrote on X, referring to the tit-for-tat exchange with Cruz. “No one asked you, brother.
“Stop trying to undermine the President and his administration.”
Cruz fired back, suggesting Trump’s inner circle may be pushing for Obama-era “Iran appeasement.”
DAVID MARCUS: THE LIES’ ‘GOVERNMENT WAR’ ON IRAN IS A FANTASY
“Shut up, kid,” Cruz replied to X. “Old people talk. I’m not ‘your brother.’ And the young political activists who are pressuring Iran to apologize are not remotely helping the President. “

Despite criticism of the Trump White House’s peace efforts, a notable anti-war Senate voice from the right came out to tell critics to let Trump cook.
“War always ends with negotiations,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., wrote Sunday morning on X. “Critics of President Trump’s peace talks should give President Trump space to find an America first solution.”
