Fox News’ Benjamin Hall prepares to climb more than 2,000 steps to the top of One World Trade Center on Sunday, climbing alongside the doctor who saved Hall’s life when he was critically injured in Ukraine.
Speaking on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Hall’s surgeon and military injury Dr. Joe Alderrete explained why they took on the challenge of the 10th Annual Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb.
“If I have to crawl to get to the top, I will crawl to get to the top because we need to show that we are here with all these people,” said Hall Saturday.
On Sunday, Hall will climb to the top of One World Trade Center in New York City to raise money for Gold Star families and families of veterans. Hall will make the climb, which is more than 2,000 stairs and 104 stories, on prosthetic legs to send a message to others who are facing difficult situations that they can continue.

“If I can walk upstairs with prosthetic legs, maybe that sends a message to anyone else who’s been through something difficult,” Hall said. “It doesn’t matter if you’re hurt. You pick yourself up, and you can continue climbing.”

In March 2022, while covering the war in Ukraine, Hall and his team were hit by Russian missiles outside Kyiv while traveling in a car. Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova were killed in the attack.
Hall was left fighting for his life and required both legs to be amputated.
Dr. Alderrete described Hall after the attack, saying he was different from other seriously injured patients he had seen.
“Ben had a different look in his eyes that really told Colonel Jennifer Gurney and I, the other surgeon, that this was the wrong person. [going to] they were broken,” Aldereta said, adding, “So it’s no wonder we’re here today.”

This climb was done a few months before the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11. Hall and Dr. Alderrete will join 1,250 participants taking on the challenge to support the organization’s mission to provide mortgage-free housing to the families of fallen heroes.
“My injuries don’t mean anything. It doesn’t matter how badly I got hurt. I’m back to my family. But these people didn’t,” Hall said. “So we’re raising money for the families of those who didn’t come home, so we all have to be a part of their growing family now.”
