Vanilla Ice is ready to rock the stage at the Great American State Fair’s Freedom 250 concerts as more acts roll out.
In a video shared on his Instagram, the 58-year-old rapper shared that he was happy and “honored” to perform at the event, promising to “bring back the 90s.”
“It’s all about enjoying the good times of 250 years. From George Washington to now. All the presidents and everyone in between, this is a magical event that’s going to happen,” he said in the video. “It’s very rare. I’m honored, man. This is going to be epic. And that’s it. We’re not taking anything for granted, and we’re going to bring the ’90s, that’s how it works.”
He shared his thoughts that the concert will be “a great party” that is planned to “bring us all together.”

TRUMP LAUNCHES HUGE ‘FREEDOM 250’ CELEBRATION TO CELEBRATE AMERICA’S 250TH BIRTHDAY
“We are all one. This is not a political forum. This is to celebrate America’s birthday,” he wrote. “Nothing is too serious to enjoy fun, dancing and good memories. I hope you can join us.”
He was met with a series of conflicting comments from fans, with some praising him for deciding to participate in the show, writing, “I’m with you brother!! Let’s go 🔥🔥,” others calling his decision “disappointing,” as they protested the current administration led by President Donald Trump.
Vanilla Ice responded to the negative comments with his comments, telling fans, “If Joe Biden calls to say hi, I want you to play at my daughter’s wedding. I’m going to play.”
“There are fans everywhere. Music has no political rules. We are just musicians,” he wrote. “I don’t vote and never have and I always try to bring people together. We are all one. Positivity is the best hope of all. Love is the answer.”

The Great American State Fair is a large national festival held on the National Mall in Washington, DC, from the US Capitol to the Washington Monument. The event runs from June 25 to July 10, 2026, as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary (America 250).
Freedom 250, which organizes the event, released the list of artists included in the concert on Wednesday, but since then, most of those artists have withdrawn, including Bret Michaels, Young MC, Morris Day and Time and C+C Music Factory.
Country singer Martina McBride was also among those who pulled out of the concert, announcing her decision to pull out of the event in a lengthy statement via X.
In his statement, he wrote that he was “given the opportunity to perform at an unrelated event” and was upset when the upcoming show “turned out to be misleading.”

“I’ve spent my entire career singing songs about real people with real problems. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to be a voice for those who feel like they don’t have it,” said McBride. “It makes me very sad that any fan who has been moved by my music may still feel that I am discarding the meaning of those songs.”
The country music star received a lot of criticism on social media after releasing his statement.

“Coward. America’s 250th birthday is not political. Never give in to a rising mob. You just did,” one user wrote on X.
