The Islamic Republic of Iran’s state-controlled media is promoting a deal with the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and talking up Tehran’s illegal nuclear weapons program as a victory for the US and Israel.
The major diplomatic achievement, known as the MOU, is expected to be sealed at a signing ceremony on June 19 in Switzerland. Iran’s state-controlled TV boasted that “the US is forced to sign an agreement to end the war.”
The State Department has classified Iran as the worst state sponsor of terrorism and its state-controlled media is notorious, according to Iran experts, for spreading anti-US propaganda.

President Trump announced some of the elements of the MOU on Sunday. He wrote on social media. “The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is over.” He noted that “I hereby fully authorize the free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, at the same time, I authorize the immediate lifting of the United States Navy blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

Lisa Daftari, founder and editor-in-chief of The Foreign Desk told Fox News Digital that, “Inside Iran, the state media is selling this as a victory, not a retreat. The message from Iranian television is that the ‘strong and proud’ Islamic Republic has forced Washington to recognize its control over the Strait of Hormuz and ease military pressure, while Tehran believes it is surrendering.”
Daftari, a leading expert on the Islamic Republic, added that “The very DNA of the Islamic Republic is built on delay, deception and denial. All the agreements signed were considered tactical breaks on the way to more missiles, more proxies and more gains, not a real change in behavior. So while it is important to read the fine print of this very important new agreement, we remember who is killing weapons. over its neighbors and lying to its people he will not suddenly become a faithful partner.”
He concluded, “The Trump administration should assume from day one that Tehran is going to check every loophole, hide every capability it can, and restart its nuclear program, stockpile its drones and missiles, fund its murderous sponsors while continuing to torture the Iranian people at home.”

Vice President JD Vance told Fox News’ “The Big Weekend Show” on Sunday that “I think it’s a big time for the United States of America. I’m thankful, of course, for the leadership of the President and the hard work of the whole team. Three things that I think are important for the American people to be thankful for what this deal does for all of us as Americans.”

He emphasized that “Number one, this is the immediate opening of the Straits of Hormuz and, of course, the removal of the naval blockade that we have had on Iran as well. The second thing it means is that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon and not just pursue a nuclear weapon to get or try to buy a nuclear weapon.”
Cameron Khansarinia, chief of staff to Reza Pahlavi, the leader of Iran’s democratic opposition and an exiled Iranian official, wrote on x: “Deal or no deal, the people of Iran will not stop the war of independence. The future of Iran has always been up to the Iranians to decide. And they will. With or without help, the Iranians will overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran. The war will continue.

He added that “The attempt to produce nuclear weapons, warming, and interference in the countries of this region is part of the survival strategy of the religious fascism that rules Iran, and it will not abandon them for as long as possible. The war is the shield of this regime against popular rebellion, while peace and ending the war, as Khomeini put it, as “Iranian poison” is their responsibility of the regime. Organized Resistance I repeat that any international agreement to end the war must including an end to the killing of political prisoners and the killing of protesters.”
