Spencer Pratt fires back at Jimmy Kimmel with a dark photo reminder

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel mocked Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt on Wednesday night’s show, and the former reality TV star responded by bringing up one of Kimmel’s most embarrassing arguments.

Pratt is one of the candidates trying to replace Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Pratt, 42, has been a vocal champion of LA residents since he lost his home in the deadly Palisades wildfire of 2025. He launched his mayoral campaign in January with a focus on Bass’ firing over alleged mishandling of the LA fire department.

“It may take some time for the Democrats here in Los Angeles to find out which of their friends secretly voted for Spencer Pratt,” Kimmel said, arguing that California took too long to count votes in recent elections. “Barring a late voter, it seems likely that Mayor Karen Bass will move on to a competitive division with a former criminal.”

“Sixty percent of the votes have been counted. If that’s still there, then in November Los Angelenos will have to choose between a woman named Karen and one man,” he said, referring to the reliable “Karen” of a stubborn, middle-class White woman.

“Spencer Pratt shouldn’t be a finalist for mayor. He should be DJing the worst New Year’s Eve party in Reno right now,” Kimmel said. “It’s unlikely he’ll win. In fact, he’s already filming a reality show about his run for mayor, so he’s got his priorities straight.”

In response, Pratt responded by sharing a photo of Kimmel’s now-infamous time when the talk show host wore blackface during “The Man Show” in the early 2000s, specifically when he impersonated former NBA star Karl Malone.

Kimmel apologized for the skit years ago, saying he intended it to be just another celebrity.

“We hired makeup artists to make me look as much like Karl Malone as possible. I never thought that this could be seen as anything other than imitating a fellow actor, who had nothing to do with the color of Karl’s skin rather than his bulging muscles and bald head,” he said in a statement on Fox News.

He added further, “I’ve done a lot of impressions of famous people, including Snoop Dogg, Oprah, Eminem, Dick Vitale, Rosie and many others. All the time, I considered them to be impersonations of celebrities and nothing else. Looking back, many of these paintings are embarrassing, and it’s frustrating that these stupid moments have been used for such a senseless. social injustice and so on.”

“I will not be bullied into silence by those who feign outrage to advance their oppressive and frankly racist agendas,” Kimmel said, later adding, “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain and to those I’ve let down, I’m sorry.”
