Joan Collins shares her secrets to aging well at 93

Joan Collins knows a thing or two about building a “Kingdom.”

The legendary actress, who is keeping busy at age 93 and starring in a new movie titled “My Duchess,” offers candid advice on aging well.

“I just love life,” the “Dynasty” alum told The Independent at Variety’s Women of Power event. “I wake up every morning and take a deep breath, try to sleep well, drink a lot of water and take care of myself.”

Even Collins needs a confidence boost from time to time. The star has a good solution: watching “old movies.”

“If you’re lucky, you might be able to find an old Bette Davis movie once,” Collins told the outlet. “But I love ’80s and ’90s movies, the ones they have [Jack] Nicholson and Sarah Jessica Parker.”

The Emmy nominee previously told The Telegraph that she still goes to the gym to look and feel her best.

“I work out with my trainer a few times a week,” he explained. “Basic Pilates exercises instead of using one of those [reformer] Pilates equipment.”

In terms of putting in his steps, Collins doesn’t hit the road well.

“It bores me,” he admitted to the store. “I’ll walk around my apartment arranging flowers, but that’s about it. That sounds silly, and it’ll look ridiculous when you see it in writing, but it’s true.”

Collins stressed that she is lucky to have “very good genes.”

“Dad lived to be 87, and for someone born in 1903, that’s amazing,” she said. “My mother took amazing care of us and my sister. When we were growing up, she took amazing care of us. [kinds of] supplements when no one is taking supplements.”

Collins’ secret to staying young at heart may also be close to home: husband No. 5 Percy Gibson, 32 years her junior. Collins married the producer in 2002, and after kissing many frogs, she believes she has finally found her prince.

“First of all, we were best friends before we got married,” the actress explained to Fox News Digital in 2023. “We worked together in a play. We enjoyed being together. We lived together. We saw each other the next year. We wrote love letters. It was a slow thing. And we realized that we were on the same high tide road.”

“He’s a really good, kind, stable person,” she said. “A lot of people I’ve been with – and I won’t say which ones – have been emotional, a little unbalanced or into different things.”

To Collins, their age gap is “just a number.” He noted that it is “never too late” to find love at any stage of life.

“We both feel that way,” he explained. “And we were friends first, more than anything else.”

He mentioned at the time that they had the same campaign, which he said was part of the secret of their lasting union.

“I was born with a great enthusiasm for life,” he said. “My mother used to say that I was never quiet when I was a child. I used to do five different things at once. I would be doing a crossword puzzle, building a doll’s house, reading, painting and trying to be a detective – all at the same time!”

“Life is a gift,” she said. “That’s why they call it a gift – a gift. And a lot of people throw it away. It’s very sad. It’s a gift, and it doesn’t last long.”

In his book “Behind the Shoulder Pads,” Collins wrote that Gibson didn’t care about the age difference because “I have so much energy and enthusiasm for life and everything it has to offer.”

“Percy often admits that I can bore him!” he wrote.
